Richard Higgins works at a car dealership by day and as a ghost hunter by night. He is the founder of Bellewood Paranormal in Belleville, NJ. He commented, “Paranormal investigating is my passion, I’m doing it to validate if there is life beyond the one we live now!”
He explained their process, “We set up a pre-interview with our client; we listen to their stories and other activities. Most people want and need answers. They are sometimes afraid of the unknown or they just want it to stop. Our job is to provide piece of mind; validating and confirming there is nothing to fear. My team researches the location and shares this detail prior to the investigation; we also discuss our client’s wishes. We set up equipment to try to justify their claims or find an alternative for what is going on which is ‘debunking’. Afterward, we review the findings and provide this information to the client during the reveal. We leave them with audio, video and/or digital camera evidence; we provide the client answers.”
Richard shared his feelings, “You must remember that ghosts were people too, and they do want to communicate with us. They try to communicate through electronic voice phenomenon (EVP), in the form of ORB’s, shadows, or by making a noise or moving an object. We have captured many of these occurrences on equipment during an investigation.”
He talked about 3 types of haunting: residual, interactive and demonic. Richard defined each, “Residual is when a spirit repeats something over and over again; it does not interact with anyone. During an interactive, the spirit wants to let you know it is nearby by doing things to let you know it is present. A demonic haunt is a non-human spirit. They have never walked the earth and are usually harmful to people. They manifest themselves while playing with Ouija boards or during black magic. These demon spirits can be dangerous; they can possess the souls of humans.”
Richard and his team have encountered feelings of sickness, chills, cold spots, seeing lights/orbs, hearing disembodied voices and even being touched and scratched. You can find pictures of such evidence on his website!
His advice for someone troubled by a haunting, “Seek out a reputable Paranormal Team to have an investigation done. A reputable group, like mine, will not charge for this service!”
