The 6th annual Pinot Days Grand Festival will showcase the best of the best on June 26 and 27, 2010 at the Fort Mason Center in San Francisco. Sonoma wineries, which are fortunate to be situated in some of the best pinot growing lands in the country with the cooling coastal influence providing ideal growing conditions, will be well reprented with such pinot producers as Landmark, Gary Ferrell and Domaine Chandon. With more than 10 events to choose from finding an excellent pinot will not be the challenge.

SPECTACULAR PINOT TOUR OF THE RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY

Those who have visited the Russian River Valley know that its views and landscapes are nothing short of breathtaking, and its wines are as stunning as the vineyards from which they come. This event will feature an all-day “insider’s” tour through the heart of Russian River Valley. Starting at 9:00 AM at Merry Edwards the tour will include an old-fashioned BBQ at Iron Horse in the vineyard, paired with wines from both Iron Horse and Freeman Winery. After lunch there will be a stop at Benovia for a special tour and tasting, and finally to Inman Family, where Kathleen Inman will demonstrate her brand new crush and tasting facility, and share her wines.

Sunday’s Grand Tasting will showcase over 220 producers of pinot noir. Consumers will be able to sample up to 500 pinots from every important domestic pinot noir region, from the Russian River Valley to the Santa Lucia Highlands, Oregon to Carneros, the Anderson Valley to the Sonoma Coast to the Santa Rita Hills. Local specialty food purveyors will serve delectables that pair well with pinot.
Other events include tastings from the Santa Lucia Highlands, Santa Rita Hills and Santa Maria Valley, A Trival Pursuit Pinot tasting and testing, a Winemakers Table Hop Dinner with Chef Roy Yamaguichi at Roy’s Restaurant and more.
Fort Mason is located on Marina Blvd near the Marina Green (across from the Marina Safeway). It is located along the northern waterfront between Aquatic Park and the Golden Gate Bridge in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Parking is limited so use of public transportation is strongly encouraged.
