The latest headline on OK! magazine regarding Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, stars of The Twilight Saga, is a prime example of how tabloids twist reality into something totally new. Which is why taking anything you read in OK! to be the truth is tantamount to believing that people used to ride dinosaurs. It’s highly unlikely, but we’re all entitled to our delusions.
The headline reads, “Kristen’s pregnant!” Technically, yes, Rob did say that when they appeared on Oprah recently. But, he said it facetiously. Kristen actually replied that no, it was Rob who would be carrying their child. (How’s that for a headline, OK!?)
Admittedly, the mag does acknowledge that in the actual article, but then they go on to allude to parenting being in the near future for the couple, who haven’t even publicly said that they’re a couple.
… Rob’s quick response does suggest he’s got babies on his mind. The comment could mask a real desire to have kids with Kristen, affirms Dr. Robi Ludwig, a psychotherapist and relationship expert, who has never treated the pair. “In a way, he’s letting the public know he’s having sex with her,” she says. Sources close to the couple suggest that when Rob starts a family, he wants to do it with Kristen. “He thinks she would be a perfect mother for his children,” one insider tells OK!.
That’s a big assumption to make from one sarcastic comment that was made to dodge an uncomfortable question. But because the third movie in The Twilight Saga is being released in June, it’s likely just the beginning of the end of what had been a welcome lull in tabloid reports on the movie’s stars.
… The frenzy has calmed somewhat, judging by the number of Twilight-free magazine covers at grocery checkouts. “I don’t know if this is the actual reason why, but we have gotten better at hiding over the last year,” Pattinson says.
“That’s totally the reason,” Stewart concurs. “They just make up a story to go along with the pictures. If they never get the picture, there’s no story. We are just good hiders now.”
It’s hard to hide from the press when you’re making the media rounds to promote one of the world’s biggest movies, but good luck to Rob, Kristen, and Taylor. They’re going to need it.
