What’s better than assorted meat and a hot fire? On Sunday, June 20th Addie’s Restaurant in Rockville will spend the entire day smoking whole pigs, goats and lamb on their barrel smoker. From 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., diners can enjoy an a la carte menu featuring Sweet Mustard BBQ Lamb with goat cheese corn bread, braised greens and candied red onion; Chopped Carolina Pork BBQ with creamy coleslaw and black-eyed pea fritters, as well as Chimichurri Kid Goat with herb tomato and sweet onion tart with field greens. Popular brunch standouts will also be available. These include New Orleans Style Beignets with fresh strawberries and powdered sugar; Buttermilk Pancakes with maple glazed pork belly and fresh berries, and Shrimp and Grits with sautéed Gulf shrimp in roasted pepper butter sauce served over goat cheese stone ground grits and garlic scapes. A la carte dishes range from $9 to $25 while brunch items are priced from $6 to $19.

On June 20th, dads qualify for all-day ‘Eco Hour’ pricing on cold canned beers at Jackson 20 New American Tavern in Alexandria. The restaurant will also serve a Prime Rib Brunch and Bone-in Rib Roast dinner special in honor of Father’s Day. Chef Marron will offer his classic Southern-inspired brunch menu featuring shrimp fritters, chicken-fried steak and eggs, and Virginia crab cakes. For dinner, Marron will prepare a Bone-In Rib Roast braised with Moo Thunder Stout and served with Nora Mills grits, braised collard greens, and roasted garlic ($35). For those who come with an appetite, a whole roast (approximately 26 oz.) is also available for $55.
