Luke Fair will be performing live at Funxion, Saturday June 19 in Washington, DC. Funxion is located on 1309 F St. NW, one block from the W Hotel. Tonight’s event is brought to you by Lush Promo and Liton Agency, along with local Dj’s and owners of the Witty Tunes label Mike Haddad and Royce Haven and Discoteca. The crowd will be strictly 21 and over.
Luke has made his place in the electronic music scene as a standout Dj from Canada. His set includes everything from groovy house and techno to funky progressive and electro. Constantly re-editing tracks to customize his sets, Luke’s ongoing desire to make every set stand out from the others is very evident.
Fair was recently selected as the opening DJ for Sasha’s United States tour for his newly released CD Involver. He was also featured on world renowned DJ Pete Tong’s BBC Radio 1 “Essential Selection” broadcast.
Tom Morgan will be providing the opening set for the evening. Morgan is establishing himself as one of the next generation of household names, with an ever-increasing fan base and a growing amount of support from the industry’s biggest DJs. From Bogota to Bangkok, Budapest to Dubai, Tom has forged a reputation as one of the most diligent and versatile artists on the circuit; a view also shared by Desyn Masiello, who tipped him as ‘a DJ who’ll break through in 2006’ in the DJ Mag Top 100 poll. Tom’s tireless devotion to the craft is there for all to hear in each and every set, with his sound possessing a maturity that defies his years.
Funxion is a new concept venue in DC. They describe their concept best as:
“Bringing a touch of hedonism to your nascent healthy impulses. During the day, you can go to the back counter and order up some (relatively) healthy grub—like ostrich burgers, bison chili or a vegetable sandwich on sprouted bread. But return after dark, when the lights dim, the house music goes up and the emphasis turns to liquids (as it inevitably does), and you’ll want to seek out a mohawked mixologist named Jason. (Hint: look behind the bar.) He’ll set you up with a Scary Good (ginger-lavender syrup and cucumber water spiked with gin) or a Lead Feather (vanilla soy milk, nutmeg and cinnamon, combined with dark rum), or you can have him blend your booze with any of the dozens of obscure nutrition drinks they stock—like Brain Toniq, an agave syrup with brain-enhancing botanicals.”
Tonight’s party will also be a celebration for the Infamous twins, Teo and Ioana Simu’s birthday. The mezzanine will be host to Liz Orondez’s birthday featuring a wig party.
So come early and stay late. Whatever your function or dysfunction, Funxion will satisfy.
