Toy Story is absolutely one of my children’s favorite movie series of all time (mine too). We love everything about it. So we also of course LOVE Toy Story stuff! Here’s a look at some of our favorites, just in time for the release of Toy Story 3 next Friday! Of course, every collection should begin with Toy Story 1 & 2 on Blu-ray and/or DVD, if you don’t have them already!
The Kids Only Toy Story Adirondack Table and Chair Set is adorably cute and designed with little ones in mind. There are no parts to pinch fingers and these chairs are hard to flip over (and my kids have tried). Set up takes seconds. This set is also a great deal at $30 for all three pieces. It can be used indoors and outdoors. Really love this (and so do the kids)!
Toy Story Patio set by Kids Only is another great kids furniture option for tots. This one folds up easily for storage. It looks cool and the umbrella provides nice shade. It can be used indoors or outdoors too.
Kohl’s Cares for Kids Toy Story Collection of books plus plush Woody, Buzz and Rex are a great Toy Story collection that benefits other children with every purchase. These plush guys are cuddly and fun to play with for kids of all ages.
On the cool plush front – the Toy Story Pook-a-Looz are awesome. These old fashioned looking toys are cuddly and a whole new way to bring Buzz and Woody to your collection. They’re especially good for babies, as there are no small buttons or other things sewn to the toys.
Toy Story Mania Wii is more fun than the ride at Disneyland that its made to emulate! My 4 and 2.5 year olds both play -though the 4 year old is MUCH better at these games than the 2.5 year old- alongside my husband and I. This game is great family fun with literally dozens of games and lots of ways to play them. You can play by theme -like Western or Space- or play by game type and more.
For portable electronic fun, check out the new line of Toy Story 3 electronic games by Techno Source. My 4 year old tested out the games Buzz Blaster and Bop the Alien. Buzz Blasters looks like a Space Ranger blaster, but it’s actually the game. The game itself is pretty basic and may be boring for older kids, but my 4 year old thought it was awesome. I really love the Bop the Alien. You simply try to press the cute little alien heads as fast as you can. A nice challenge for my 4 year old. It is a great road trip choice too.
And speaking of those lovable little green men in the Toy Story series, check out the “Save Planet Earth” collection at the Disney Store. Each tote is made from seven recycled bottles. The bag is nice and roomy -perfect for bagging up groceries and other purchases to help reduce waste. I have enjoyed the reusable aluminum bottles and recycled paper journal too.
Now available for non-animated kids to love as much “Andy” does are a whole new line of toys based on the toys of Toy Story fame. We have Rex (see photo above left). He’s a funny lil guy. He’ll roar and even talk with you (only in preprogrammed sentences) in the real voice of Rex from the Toy Story movies. This Rex really looks like he stepped right out of the movie and into your house!
Another fun Toy Story must-have – a Mr or Mrs Potato Head. They’re classic children’s toys and Toy Story characters and there’s a reason these guys have been around so long. They’re fun! If you don’t remember the Mr Potato Head toy, just his movie counterpart, he’s like an easy to put together puzzle that’s also an action figure. You store most of his parts inside his boy so they’re harder to loose. Mr or Mrs Potato Heads are recommended for children 2 and up. Both the regular and Toy Story versions are the same amount of fun and kids don’t know the difference. We got our spuds for about $5 and have seen them on sale a quite few places lately.
Buzz and Woody costume PJs are just about the coolest jammies around, especially if you have a certain cowboy and space ranger fan in your house. I bought these for my girls last week and we all love them. They have a high quality print and vivid colors. Just add socks to complete the “boots” and you’re ready for fun. These are some of the best pajamas we’ve bought from DisneyStore.com and cost the same as others in their PJ Pals collection. Add boots, hats and for Buzz wings -and you could have super comfy Halloween costumes too.
Who says full out costumes are only for Halloween? Kids LOVE to dress up and play out scenes as their fav characters and the Toy Story bunch are no exception. Check out the Buzz and Woody costumes from Jakks Pacific. These are fun traditional costumes that will get lots of use all year long. We’re already planning to have my 4 and 2.5 year olds wear these this Halloween, my baby (who will be 14 months by then will be Rex), my husband wants to be Zurg and I’m thinking of being Andy. There are so many options with Toy Story as your family Halloween theme! You can get these at Walmart and Toys R Us in stores but not online.
And last but certainly not least – the uber cool family drinking glass set that doubles as a rocketship. This set of four plastic tumblers stacks up on a base then add the rocket top and you’re ready to blast off to infinity and beyond! These are fun to leave on the center of the table, serve a pitcher of lemonade and let the kiddos serve themselves. We got these at The Disney Store.
