There are a number of family travel events this special Father’s Day Weekend and all are a quick car trip in the Providence area. There is something for everyone with a multitude of themes.
Start the weekend off right tonight at Get the Led Out. Treat Granddad, Dad, your partner, your husband to Get the Led Out in Cranston.

Sunday, Fathers Day, Dads get in free with children at the Roger Williams Zoo. “A life-size Baby T-Rex will make a one-day appearance at the Zoo at 11 a.m., noon, and 1 p.m. The baby is visiting from Walking with Dinosaurs: The Arena Spectacular. A ticketed event, the Father’s Day barbecue, will include barbecue lunch, a wood kit construction activity, a meet and greet with University of Rhode Island and Boston Burins mascots, games, animal encounters. There’s a Strawberry Festival on Saturday at Smith’s Castle, 155 Richard Smith Drive, North Kingstown, nr Wickford. Time: noon – 4 p.m. Cost: adults, $6; children, $2.
The Kelly Miller Circus with nostalgia of the 1950’s at Ninigret Park, Fort Ningret Road. Saturday, 2, 5, and 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, 2 and 5 p.m.; Monday, 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Advance tickets are Adults, $12 and children, $8; day of show tickets are Adults, $17 and children $10. Tickets can be purchased at the Charlestown Chamber of Commerce, 4945 Old Post Road. Information: 401-364-3878.
Saturday, at 7pm, enjoy a concert of classical, contemporary, international, and patriotic choral music provided by the award-winning Rhode Island Children’s Chorus at Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral. No children under 4, 30 Fenner Street. Time: 7 p.m. Cost: $10.
