A recent issue of 270inc ( www.270inc.com ) featured an article focused on exploring and embracing diversity. The article offered a detailed discussion based on a roundtable hosted by 270inc. It showed the importance and need to have an understanding of diversity and inclusion in today’s global business environment. As business becomes more global diversity can impact even the smallest companies. 270inc. is a new bi-monthly publication focused on business in the Frederick and Montgomery county areas. It offers a unique mix of business spotlights, tips and informative articles. Its market tends to be more small and medium sized businesses but also includes large businesses as well.
In the 270inc article entitled “ There’s a place for everyone at the table,” a round table discussion was held with top diversity executives from some of the Washington Metro area’s largest and most well known corporations including Fannie Mae, Shulman Rogers and Marriott among others. A: It’s about the demographic changes, attracting and retaining talent while meeting customers’ needs. To be successful businesses need to be a reflection of the communities and cultures that they serve. Diversity is a competitive advantage. Diversity makes good business sense and is about the quality of life.
