Central New York dog owners can choose from activities throughout the region this Father’s Day weekend. Saturday, June 19 is packed with a tracking seminar in Clinton, NY and a Central New York SPCA pet photo day fundraiser at the Walgreens store in Camillus, NY. On Sunday, dog dads and families can practice agility at the Awesome Abilities agility show-n-go in Skaneateles, NY.
Central New York Kennel Club (CNYKC) still has some auditing spots available in their Saturday Tracking for Beginners seminar at Pavilion #4 in Kirkland Town Park, Post Street in Clinton, NY. Fees to audit the seminar are $30 for CNYKC members and $40 for non-members. Email Karen Buttenschon for more information and to register.
Residents of Syracuse’s western suburbs can have a special photo taken of dad’s favorite pet this Saturday from 10am to 3pm. At the Walgreens in Camillus on the corner of Hinsdale Rd. and 5206 West Genesee St., pet owners will receive a professionally taken 4 x 6 photo of their pet in return for their donation to the Central New York SPCA (CNYSPCA). For more information, contact the Camillus Walgreens at (315) 468-1701.

Wrap up the weekend with a Father’s Day agility show-n-go on Sunday at Awesome Abilities Training School, two miles east of Skaneateles at 3441 Rickard Rd. (near the intersection of Rickard Rd. and Rt. 20.) Trainer and agility competitor Diane Eggleston will offer a nested standard course with 24″ spacing weavepoles, and minus a table to – as Diane puts it – “speed things along!”
The outdoor agility show-n-go features two walk-thrus run in reverse order. The first (morning) walk-thru will walk from 9-9:15am, and then run all who walked from 24″ jump height down to 8″ jump height. The second (afternoon) walk-thru will walk from 12:15pm-12:30pm, and then run all who walked from the 8” jump height up to the 24” jump height. Each run is $4, and two minutes’ time, maximum, will be allowed per run. Awesome Abilities Training School students have priority sign up for run times.
