Season 9 week 18 of The Biggest Loser started off in dramatic fashion, thunder and lightning effects blazing.

The final four had their introductory videos flashed on the big screen behind them so they and we could see how far they have come.
Geez, Biggest Loser, do you have to have us weeping in the first five minutes?
(BTW, that song played at the beginning and the end of the show was Marching On by OneRepublic.)
Ali let the four know that they’d be going home for 30 days and then returning back to the ranch one last time before the finale.
Mike’s in Chicago; Ashley headed to Knoxville, Tenn.; Koli’s in Rohnert Park, Calif.; and Daris is back in Ardmore, Okla. “And my new life starts now,” Mike said as he got out of the limo.
Did you see Sam’s “I Love Koli Bear” T-shirt? Cute!
In this final four are two Biggest Loser record holders: Mike for most weight lost on the ranch (204 pounds) and Ashley for the most weight lost by a woman on the ranch (143 pounds).
At home, Mike showed his family a new twist on a meatball recipe by using ground turkey and chickpeas (and I just found the recipe!) The moms in the teams are also looking great – Maria, Sherry and Cheryl all are keeping their weight off and are bursting with pride at the success of their children.
The four immediately started training for the marathon. Daris enjoys running but Mike’s a little apprehensive – OK, “scared to death.” So Mike and Ashley called each other up for support and decided to train together – Shortcake and Babe. (Hmmmmm…)
Curtis Stone drove all the way from Australia to Oklahoma to visit Daris, who was bummed that he couldn’t eat at his favorite restaurant. Curtis decided to add a Daris section to the restaurant menu, adding four dishes (the recipes are HERE).
Daris’s midnight binge was a great window into his world and how he reverted to old habits that he thought he had left behind.
Just in the nick of time, before they all flew off the rails, Bob and Jillian hit the road to visit all the contestants at home.
Quote of the week, from Mike and Bob:
Mike: “Honestly Bob, I’m working out hard here at home than at the ranch – no offense.”
Bob: “Uh, no you’re not.”
Jillian launched an air offensive against Daris, swooping down in a helicopter as he ran down a country road. Bob really didn’t like that Koli was in Vegas and not training at home, where he could live a real life. Koli is so determined to win that he took himself away from his family and friends and distractions.
The marathon: Back at the ranch, the four were ready for the marathon, starting in the cold rain. If they finish the marathon, they get $10,000 to donate to the charity of their choice. Daris is aiming for season 7 finalist Tara Costa’s marathon record of 4 hours and 55 minutes. Mike and Ashley kept the pace together and seemed to be canoodling!
Halfway through the marathon, Daris happened upon a drifter – wait, that’s no drifter, that’s season 2 winner Matt Hoover in all his muscular glory! Then Sione jumped out at Koli, Ali Vincent met up with Ashley and Mike Morelli greeted Mike.
Daris was driven to beat Tara’s record – and he did, in 4 hours and 2 minutes. Sione kept Koli going and Koli’s sister joined him for the last stretch. He finished a couple hours behind Daris, which makes Daris’ feat all the more amazing.
“Your hot male escorts have arrived,” said Mike as he and the other Mike caught up to Ashley and Ali. Mike and Ashley finished 26 minutes after Koli.
Since they all finished, they all won the $10,000 to give to charity.
Weigh-in: Two people will be guaranteed spots in the finals. The other two people will have to plead their case before viewers to be voted into the finale next week. Their final weigh-ins:
Mike: 526 to 299. He lost 23 pounds at home and got out of the 300s.
Koli: 403 to 218. He lost 13 pounds at home.
Ashley: 374 to 213. She lost 18 pounds at home.
Daris: to 346 to 197. He gained 2 pounds at home. Which, when you really think about it is not a tragedy. AT 5-foot-10 and 197, the guy is very close to a goal weight. He can run a marathon in 4 hours. Gaining 2 pounds in a month is basically maintaining. But this is the Biggest Loser and that put him below the line with Koli.
So it’s Daris and Koli who will have to wait and see. Who will you be voting for? Take THIS poll.
