Since life in the US is so mixed up and chaotic, the Asian lifestyle offers a more organized and cleaner way of living. For this you should fix your home according to feng shui principles, it will improve every aspect of your lives. Relationship, moods, health, money, you will even sleep better. A few things to think of when you’re rearranging, points on furniture are very bad; it acts like a bow shooting a sharp arrow at the bystander/sitter sending a stream of sha chi or negative chi at that person continuously and can eventually causing sicknesses. So all surfaces with points should be covered with a cloth type or positioned so that the points don’t aim right at a person if they are sitting for lengthy times. You can also or instead use rounded furniture but the cloth idea works best and is nicer.
You could use some Asian style design or solid colors like black or gold. The Chinese belief is the cloth softens the corners. Since chi is energy, it has to be directed, cloth cannot effectively do that because it’s too soft, and so the chi scatters. Another good point, always hide the trash cans, they should not be seen, such as in a closet of under the sink. Trash produces sha chi, and all clutter lowers chi’s ability to circulate effectively; such as a cluttered book shelf. Another point, always keep the bathroom door closed and the toilet lid closed, and the shower curtain drawn. The toilet and drain in the shower transport good chi away and the bathroom door open is letting sha chi from the bathroom (seen as a dirty place) into your home where you live. The bathroom is said to be the least noticed room in the home and if its not, then it’s suppose to be.
There are many things at which you can do to your home, office and places where you spend your time the most. If you want to really get serious which is suggested as a Zen practitioner or student, go to your local library and check out a few Feng Shui books and find out what your number is, in feng shui your date of birth says a lot about you and it even says what is bad and good numbers, colors and directions for you. If you have a desk, favorite chair, computer area, or a place you are just in a lot you’ll want to make sure you are surrounded by the right colors and sitting facing the right direction, Your number will tell you all the best and worst things for you in these areas. Even for the married people, it will say what side of the bed to sleep on to make your sleep better as well as what colors to use in the bedroom.
