UPDATE: Beau Biden suffered mild stroke. See follow-up of article below by Huffington Post. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/05/11/beau-biden-hospitalized-v_n_571514.html
No matter what takes up the day to day in our lives and professions, it is family that means the most to Atlantans and Americans. It does not matter your faith, your political slant, or how much money you have in the bank, when you child is ill. It does not matter if they are 10 years old or 41 like Beau Biden – they are still your child and the most precious of all things on earth.
Our prayers and thoughts go out for Beau Biden, Vice-President Biden and all his family members. It is the prayer of Atlanta and the nation that whatever the reason for the hospitalization, it will not be serious or life threatening; and that he will soon enjoy a full recovery.
Like with all families, illness and tragic events are not strangers to the Biden Family. VP Biden was treated for brain aneurysms; and he lost his first wife when a tractor trailer took her life and that of their infant daughter. Beau and Hunter were also in the family station wagon; but they both recovered.
Beau recalled the time when he was four years old and his father was sworn in as senator in his hospital room at his bedside. In times like these, family is all that matters.
Family members all across America are hurting for various reasons as our nation continues to be affected by the current events taking place. In hard times, we are reminded that families are forever and love remains. God created the family as the very first unit – then the church – and then the government.
It is families that has made this country strong; and it will be through families that our nation recovers and turns around. Families are coming back to their roots and are binding up all kinds of wounds and are looking for a better, brighter, tomorrow in their land.
AP reported this morning that his eldest son, Beau, was admitted to the hospital in Delaware. At the posting of this article there is no update on his condition or why he was hospitalized. However, the report said Beau was alert and communicating with his parents and wife at Christina Hospital in Newark.
He was admitted this morning Tuesday, May 11, 2010.
“Vice President Joe Biden’s son was being treated at a Delaware hospital,” the White House said Tuesday, though it did not provide information about what might be wrong.
A spokesman said, “Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, here in December, was admitted to a Delaware hospital on Tuesday morning.
The 41-year-old had considered running for the Senate seat his father held before becoming Vice President, but decided against it. He became attorney general in 2007 and previously served at the U.S. Justice Department.”
Beau served a year in Iraq with his Army National Guard unit as captain and also as a military lawyer in the 261st.
He was entertaining the idea of running for the seat vacated by his father, Joe; but he gave as his reason for not running was because of a high profile criminal case he was trying.
