Angelina Jolie News!
Chasing Angie to Ecuador on another trip for the U.N. —
Celebrity gossip columnist Perez Hilton calls Angelina Jolie a saint for a reason.
Like her, love her, or hate her, she keeps herself busy doing good deeds.
The latest news about the globetrotting star is that Angelina Jolie has braved a journey on rutted jungle roads to a village on Ecuador’s border.
Why travel so far and in a way so not glam?
To visit with families affected by hellish conditions in Colombia, to highlight the abuses suffered by women, and their children as they cling to life and human dignity as refugees.
AP news reports the actress and U.N. human rights goodwill ambassador returned for the first time in eight years to a turbulent region where thousands of Colombian refugees live.
She ended her two-day visit Friday with a meeting in Shushufindi; there, Jolie met with President Rafael Correa and other senior government officials says the source.
According to the news brief, Jolie was in the isolated border hamlet of Barranca Bermeja on Thursday.
The U.N. [United Nations] says one of the women Jolie met had lost two children in Colombia’s conflict.
Official government records suggest more than 50,000 Colombian refugees are registered in Ecuador; unofficial estimates put the number at a staggering figure of more than 170,000.
