Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox are now officially the final two on “American Idol,” and it all comes down now to how well they perform in the finale and earn the votes of America.
In a new article by USA Today, both Crystal and Lee discuss what strategies they will use in order to get the fans voting in their direction.
- Crystal: “Hopefully, they like me and if they want to hear my songs and what I have to say after the show … I need lots of money to give to charities and to start my foundation for juvenile diabetes. It’s not for research. It’s for taking care of issues now. … My goal is to set up something where there can be screening clinics where once you have the diagnosis, they can treat the problem and pharmaceutical companies can donate medicine and supplies. That’s my goal … People should never go without insulin. In my life at points, I’ve begged for insulin outside of pharmacies and no one should ever have to do that.”
- Lee: “I can’t tell viewers why to pick me. I’m going to perform next week and I know I’m going to give it everything I have. Hopefully, I’ll give them a reason to pick me.”
So there you have it — two entirely different strategies for who are two entirely different artists. As someone who was nearly eliminated earlier this season due to diabetes complications, Crystal certainly has a lot to fight for. However, Lee’s story is equally inspiration and he could walk away with this whole thing. (Either way, both of them are so far along now that they should have decent careers in music.)
